December at City of Peace

30 November —Advent Starts
Christmas is upon us. November 30th marks the first day of Advent, which helps us to prepare for Christmas.
2 December —Evolution at House Group
There will be no Wednesday House group. We’ll meet together for a joint meeting as we discuss the topic of evolution and Christianity. House Group starts at 7:15
5 December—Prayer Meeting
Join us at 7:15am to pray for individual, church, community and world concerns.
6 December—Christmas Market
Join us for games, crafts, food and fun. The market will run from 3-8pm.
9 December—City of Peace Christmas Meal
For those interested, we’ll be heading out to a Christmas meal at a local restaurant. We haven’t decided on a restaurant yet.
14 December—Christmas Service
The service starts at 11am and a meal will follow. Alan Black will be giving the Christmas message. Please see the flyer attached for full details. We'll have invitations this coming Sunday for you to hand out to friends and family.

November at City of Peace
1. Youth Night--Tonight (30.10.08) there will be a youth night from 7-9ish for those in secondary school at Cafe Forever.
2. Art Exhibition--Tomorrow night (halloween) there will be an Opening of an art exhibition by Peter Szabo at Departure (www.depart.in). There will also be an Artist talk by Attila Tordai at 6:30pm. A number of people from City of Peace will be going, so feel free to come.
3. Communion--The 2nd of November is the first Sunday of the month so we'll be having communion at City of Peace.
3. Party!--On the 5th of November we'll have a party at the Bouma's house at 7pm. We'll celebrate Guy Fawkes day and we'll also celebrate my (thomas) birthday with a cake or treats, whichever. There will be no house group on Tuesday or Wednesday night
4. Prayer meeting--On the 7th of November we'll be praying at Cafe Forever at 7.15 in the morning. Feel free to join us as we pray for personal, community and world concerns.
5. Football--On the 8th of November we'll be playing football at Southwark park in Bermondsey. We get started at about 10am. We also play football on the 10th and 24th of November at George Green. Things kick off at 8pm.
6. Sunday Meal--On the 9th of November we'll have a church meal after our Sunday Service.
6. Advent--Just so you know Advent starts on the 30th of November.
7. Christmas Market--Just a heads up, Cafe Forever is changing the format of the Christmas market. It will only run one night and will be held on Saturday so that people who normally work during the week can get involved. It will be held on the 6th of December.

October at City of Peace
Michelle's leaving party--First, remember that Michelle Palani's leaving party is this Friday (26th of September) at 7pm. The party will be held at at 3 houses (the Boumas, the Carpenters, and Marlene's place in London Yard). If you plan on coming then contact Lynne Hornett if you want to bring something. Hope to see you there!
Supporting Michelle--Second, in place of supporting Michelle in an internship here at City of Peace the elders felt it would be good to support her in going to school back in South Africa. Michelle is seeking an internship opportunity there while going to school and so we we've set aside 3000 pounds to help in this.
New Sermon Series--third, we start a new series on the book of Hebrews this week. Henk Bouma will start off the series for us.
Prayer Meeting--We'll be praying at Cafe Forever on the 3rd of October at 7am. Hope to see you there.
Football--interested in playing football? We're playing football at Southwark park on the 4th of October at Southwark park in Bermondsey.
Communion this Sunday
We'll have communion on Sunday on the 5th of October. We'll start having communion on the first Sunday of every month.
Youth Jam & Games Session

What to bring? Guitars,drums,games etc...
After Café Forever closes on Friday night we’ll gather for some dinner. After dinner those who’re musically inclined can spend some time with Will Davis who works for Café Forever in a Jam session. Those who can’t play music are still welcome to join us. We’ll get a video game console and play some games, or play some foosball. Otherwise, you’re welcome to just hang out with us. LCM Open Day
Wanting to see some of the other ministries within the London City Mission. Old Routemaster buses will be going between Cafe Forever, Cafe Eterno, Departure and the LCM HQ on the 11th of October. September at City of Peace
Michelle—we’ll hear whether or not Michelle will be granted a visa to work at City of
House Group will start up next week. The evening house groups will be continuing their study of the Gospel of Mark. The Friday morning House group will be studying the book of Ruth. Time and places are as follows:
• TUESDAYS at Henk Bouma’s house 270a
• WEDNESDAYS at Café Forever. The group starts at 7pm.

Communion—Communion will be served on September 7 and will now be held on the first Sunday of every month.
August 31—John Percival from St. Peter’s barge will be speaking on 1 Corinthians 15 in our Sunday Service.
September 5—Prayer Meeting
September 6—Quaystone and Alpha Grove Centre have invited us to a community fun day at Alpha Grove. It will last from 12-4pm. There will be games, crafts, music and a bouncy castle.

june @ city of peace
This past week Simon started a sermon series called encounters with Jesus. In the coming weeks we’ll be looking at how people responded when they met with Jesus and how that changed them.
The 1st of June—Tom Carpenter will be looking at John 4 when Jesus meets with the women at the well.
The 8th of June—John Nicholls (the CEO of LCM) will be joining us to look at John 9 which covers the story about the man born blind.
The 15th of June—Henk Bouma will be looking at John 4 when Jesus meets with the royal official
The 22nd of June—Alan Black will be joining us from LCM and will be talking about Luke 18 and the 10th leper.
The 29th of June—Tom Carpenter will be looking at John 5 when Jesus meets the lame man at the pool.
The 15th of June—Communion
Communion will be served on 15th of June at our Sunday morning meeting.
House Group
We have 3 house groups that meet weekly to eat a meal study the Bible, pray and fellowship. Anybody is welcome to attend. We’re still continuing to look at the Gospel of Mark. Time and places are as follows:
Tuesday at Henk Bouma’s house, which is located at 270a Manchester Road and the group starts at 7:15pm.
Wednesday at Café Forever and it starts at 7:15pm
Friday at 272 Manchester Road and the groups starts at 9:30am. The group is for women and provides child care.
All Man Kind & a birthday celebrations…
Lynne and Elmarie’s Birthday celebration will be held at Departure (649 Commercial Road) on Thursday, June 12 from 7:30-10:00pm. There will be a 5 pound entry fee, but there will be free snacks and light refreshments available. Anyone is welcome to come, so feel free to invite your friends. All Mankind is a band that will be putting on an acoustic. They’ve played over 500 shows in Australia, the USA, and the UK.
